Teeth are a vital body part to human beings. They help in the digestion of food and language expression. Facial convergence of an individual is also expressed via teeth. However a number of ailments may attack the teeth. Some of them are macrodontia, microdontia and anodontia. Microdontia is common, though.

Microdontia attacks all or some teeth or an individual. The teeth appear similar than normal. The disorder results courtesy of genetic disorders. One or two teeth are affected. Children are the major victims of this disorder. Commonly attacked, are upper lateral Incisors and the third molars. When attacked the teeth may be normal or abnormal morphologically.

In rare cases, this disease is found. Usually, there must be other abnormalities such as pituitary dwarfism. The affected teeth become \'peg-shaped\'. The affected teeth may seem missing from the outer sides and peg shaped between other teeth. Children born as a result of incest are bound to have this disorder. Affected humans may not have otherwise other than contenting with it. However, if the lateral Incisors are small, the facial expression of the person looks strange. This may call for medical examination from experts (oculits) – replacing the teeth with the artificial teeth of the same size.

Talking about teeth, one needs o understand teeth variation and morphology. Thus; there are of two parts: ectoderm and ectomescenchyme layers. From ectodermic components, enamel is formed. Ectomescenchyme firms dentin, pulp, cementum, supporting PDL and bone. These are teeth anomalies/variation disturbances that maybe a cause of microdontia: Polygenic variations gives rise to these variations. Therefore talking of exprenial and penetrance is in order. Thus, size disturbances result in teeth that appear smaller than normal. This is the condition called microdontia. In macrodontia, the size of the teeth is bigger than normal. This is due to pituitary gigantism.

Disturbance in number:
There can be an absence of all teeth – Anodontia. The teeth fail to form at all. This can be partial or complete partially, one or two teeth fail to develop while complete Anodontia all teeth fail to form. Apart from the above, extra teeth may develop. This is a supernumerary case. Most of the extra teeth are formed at the maxilla.

Eruption disturbance
These can result an eruption of teeth prematurely of teeth. This can be in all the teeth and may be the deciduous or permanent eruption of teeth. Seen at birth, a natal tooth maybe an aberrant tooth\' nodule. It may also be a deciduous incisor that has erupted before it is ripe time. Teeth may also delay to erupt. This maybe due to systematic or local factors as a result of surgical exposure and that may prove hard to remedy this disorder. As well, teeth may be buried in the cellular bone and fail to erupt. This is in case called imparted teeth. Third molars and maxillary canine are frequently embedded then premolars and supermonary teeth.

Sometimes, teeth may not complete the eruption process. This could be due to blockage by an adjacent tooth or due to misplace band orthondontic band on a first molar.

Shape disturbance
There are shape changes. Flexion or bends are deviations on the root portion of the tooth. This may be due to trauma to the developing teeth. Dilacerations occurs in the long axis of the tooth. This bend occurs at the junction between the crown and the root. It may take 90 degrees unlike flexion.

Molars may have an awkward shape, for instance, an abnormal long pulp chamber and shortened roots. However, the teeth with this anomaly appear normal.

Rarely, some teeth may be within other teeth. This then affects the maxillary lateral Incisors. These teeth are susceptible to cares. Restoring them promptly helps. These are many other anomalies of teeth are related to microdontia. One needs to understand the morphology and teeth disorder for any professional medication or surgery to be applied. Teeth are essential organs in a human being. Caring for them is therefore vital.
