These days while buying any beauty products from the market, we get confused due to the availability of too many of them. So here I’m going to help you out by giving you some of the tips that will help you choose what is right or wrong for your skin:
Work out its worth: Do you stand inside the cosmetics store and think, ‘oh, that bottle of moisturizer costs Rs 300 and for that much I could buy three cheaper ones!’ Here’s why you should do a quick rethink, cheap isn’t necessarily good. Why risk plastering your skin with an inferior product when it might cause you incalculable harm?
Don’t smoother your skin: Moisturizer is the most common product used in the world. Nature gave us 600 oil glands per cubic centimeters on our noses, 400 on our cheeks and 20 on our arms. And yet we insist on loading our skin with the heavy moisturizer. Let skin breathe! You really don’t need to slather every inch with those buttery creams. The keyword here is moderation.
Don’t buy more of that Mica: That gorgeous evening look with loads of glitter and glamour can come at a price beyond what you paid for your cosmetics. The sparkly stuff is usually mica, a common mineral. Its jagged, flaky shape can cause irritation, so it’s best to use products without too much shimmer.
Steer clear off sweat scents: Did you know that even products claiming to be unscented might include fragrances added to the mask that smell of other ingredients? Bad news if you’re allergic to certain fragrances, which are known to be a major cause of allergic and irritant reactions on the face. So before buy any of these product, try a patch test on the skin, beyond your ear, if no irritation appears after three days of application, go ahead and use it on the larger area.
Read the labels carefully: If you’re prone to pimples or have sensitive skin, the word ‘comedogenic’ should immediately raise up your antennae. Comedogenic substance clogs up your pores, irritating the follicles. As a result you could breakout into small, persistent bumps that aren’t really acne. Your best bet here is to go for products that are marked ‘noncomedogenic’ and oil free.
Get your right toner according to your skin: Toners, with their wake up effect can undoubtedly make your skin feel wonderfully fresh. But the ones with alcohol as their main ingredient can strip natural oils from the skin. And if you use these in dry months, your skin looks like dehydrated. The right toner will not only give your skin a cooling treat, but also remove sweat, excess oil, and other impurities that can lead to impurities.
Eye creams: You do know how delicate the under eye area is. But what you may not know is that heavy eye creams can cause milieu, or tiny white cysts under the eyes. This is because these creams are designed to be thicker and greasier than regular facial moisturizers. Some women report suffering acne because of this. Our advice is why not save some cream of boiled and cooled milk and apply it under eyes? Safe, natural and non-problematic.
Listen to the seasons: In winters, you definitely need to use a heavy, good quality cream and in summers, the same cream can turn into enemy, clogging pores and causing breakouts. So better use water based products which will give your skin the glow you need in summer.
Almost each time you step into a beauty store, a lovely new product is likely to catch your eye. But experts say each skin care or make up product has an average of 20 to 40 ingredients, so buying something you haven’t used before, you are introducing those many potential allergens to your face. So, beware of these attractive labels, and buy only those products which you first test on yourself.
