It seems like ages, ever since you’ve been waiting for this day to come. Nervousness and confusion is quite normal to be taking over. Wondering where to go? What to wear? What to talk on? Here are some tips for you to get all set for your first date!
The first thing to remember always is that your first date is a beginning of a new relationship. It is an opportunity for both individuals to know each other better.
Once your dream date has agreed to go out with you, the next thought in mind is where to go on the special day. It is advisable not to go to a very private place, and at the same time do not opt for any place that is too crowed either. Since it is the first time you two are meeting, it is obvious that you would not be too comfortable at a private or a too busy place. . A coffee outlet, a restaurant or an open area could be good options. Do not opt to take your date for a movie, since you would not be able to talk there.
Remember, nothing would be worse than meeting and then wasting time on what to do and where to go. Thus, always plan beforehand, on where you are going and how much time you have together. Some short rules of a first date include the following:
• Be On Time: It is not only embarrassing, but also insulting to keep someone waiting for you. Nothing is lost if you are a good thirty minutes early for your date, but it is absolutely not accepted to keep anyone waiting for you.
• Dress properly: It is very natural that you wish to look the best on your first date, but then again this does not mean that you have to sport a formal suit and tie always. Select your attire according to the meeting place and time. Dress to make an impression, but remember to be comfortable.
• Cracking a conversation: It’s your first date, thus, hesitation and shyness is very obvious. But the trick lies here, talk on subjects of mutual interest, discuss topics, this will help both of you open up, exchange ideas and thoughts. Be attentive, understanding and polite.
• Be Yourself: It is important to be yourself and there should not be a sea change in your mannerism from one date to another.
• Following Up: After the date is over, it is always nice to get a call from the other side to enquire about him/ her. Ask how they felt, and did they enjoy your company. Tell them how you felt on the date, and do drop in hints of meeting again soon, provided both of you intend to move ahead.
