The monsoon style is bright, natural and of course, pleasingly dries. Gone are the days of dull and monotonous look on a rainy day. Monsoons mean bright colors, a wardrobe, accessories and the mood all jazzed up to combat the cloudy, gloomy weather.

How to change your dress sense this rainy season?

The biggest favor you can do to your dress sense is to stack away those cigarette jeans for the rains. Bid a good buy to tight, full length skirts and white outfits. If you must, fold up your jeans and make them Lycra. Knee length skirts are in this season. But avoid wearing mini skirts loaded with embellishments. And if you are the shy type and skirts are not your type, go for a trendy pajama pants or capris. The key to the comfortable dressing in rains is the fabric you chose, though some dry faster and some simply don’t. It is fabrics like Lycra, tencel and synthetic that dry faster and should be worn in the monsoons. Fabrics that have rubber like coating make the water bounce back; their water absorbent quality is low. For those who prefer salwar kameez, they can choose crepes and drip dry fabrics.

Which color should we prefer?

A potpourri of colors is an instant hit in the rains. Bright and frozen hues spell the color trend of the season. Avoid pastels. They do nothing nice when it’s raining cats and dogs. Dark colors are best when it’s raining. They can be carried off well even if you’re wet. Whites are a big no for this season. But if you cannot do without them, simply layer them well to prevent a see through look.

Footloose

The safest bet for this season is sneakers. They will lend you the sturdiness to combat slipperiness. Rubber mules and slippers comfort comes first. So one should opt for branded footwear. You can also put away your stilettos and those lovely boots into your shoe closet. They must be packed away for sunny days ahead.

Make up

Its neutral hues and oil free make up that should be dabbed on in the monsoons. Stick to kohl pencil and a light lipstick. And for hair care, you must tie your hair in a pony tail or a bun in the rains. This will help prevent hair limpness.

Safe haven

Days of the dowdy black umbrella are over. In vogue are designer umbrellas, available in various color or prints. These umbrellas have acquired a whole new meaning. People see these as much than utilitarian items.

At last we must say we can’t do anything about rains, because they are unpredictable. But dressing right for the rains should definitely be on your agenda.
