By: J.K., In Skin & BodyHits - Today: 70, This Week: 0, Month: 0, Total: 0Updated: Friday, July 20, 2007 Aloe Vera is present in a wide range of products that we use almost regularly-including moisturizing lotions, sunscreens, shampoos and even soaps! The age old beauty ingredient has been re-discovered and re-packaged as the big solution to almost every beauty problem. The sudden popularity of this nature’s healer came about a couple of years ago because of modern processing techniques. The natural gel of plant oxidizes very fast when in touch with and cannot be refrigerated for more than three days. But this new processed gel is stable enough to be used in beauty products. The established gel can be used in cosmetic preparations for various skin conditions. In this form it is more easily absorbed by the skin and also combines well with other extracts. Still being researched, the aloe vera components have shown so many good properties that companies all over the world are getting excited about the magic plant. The gel is useful for both skin rejuvenation and regeneration. It heals sunburns, makes the skin resistant to UV rays, conditions and nourishes hair.
Soft and silky: Most commonly, aloe gel is used to give moisturizing properties to beauty products. VLCC’s shower gels, Avon Naturals Aloe range, and newly launched Veet-all use aloe vera extracts to make the skin supple and soft. Aloe vera seals off the loss of moisture from the skin which makes it an ideal moisturizer. The moisturizing properties of aloe vera also extend to hair nourishment.
Sun shading: Along with moisturizing, aloe vera extracts have natural healing properties which make it an excellent sunscreen. If I’m looking for something, I would definitely look for one with aloe vera extracts. It will give me added barrier as it protects from UV rays.
Reversing age: Aloe is now also being explored for its skin firming qualities. One of the most remarkable properties of aloe vera is its ability to speed up the cell renewal process. This actually helps to improve many cellular functions and protects the skin from early degeneration. In addition to renewing cells, aloe vera also helps soften dead cells and facilitates their removal from the skin, leaving the skin smoother and brighter. It is an ideal combo for delaying the process of skin ageing.
