Dia Mirza continues riding the modeling and filmy waves successfully. She speaks for the first time of her singlehood status.

Single trail: She often thinks why people are always so curious about one’s single status. Is being with someone so important? Well, she is single right now and that means many things to her. Firstly it means that she is not emotionally dependent on anyone. Being single gives her ample freedom to enjoy her own space and an opportunity to explore the other dimensions of her life. She says, “In the past she engrossed in many relationships but now she would like to spend time in discovering herself.” Well, in short, to be single is to be free.

The positive aspects of being single: According to her, the positives of being single are many, like it gives her an opportunity to understand herself better. And she knows that if she gets into a relationship at any stage later in her life, it will not be because she needs someone in her life, but because she is ready to share her life with someone. She further adds, “being single means so much fun, catching up with her friends and spending long and lazy hours together having fun, indulging in her painting sprees and doing her bit of writing and reading”.

Negative aspect of being single: The negative aspect of being single is the loneliness that creeps in sometimes, the pangs of wanting to latch on to someone and the fact that you can’t. Also, she hates the way some people raise their eyebrows if they spot her with a male friend.

Single in the city: According to her, being single in the city can be great fun and the attention you get is sometimes flattering. And she says, if you’re single, it reminds people that you are independent and strong.

Home alone: According to her being single at home means spending hours sitting by the window reading a book, and not being interrupted by anyone. It means waking up alone and discovering the beauty of just being alone. She also feels that she don’t have to bother about looking good and don’t have to be embarrassed about being a cleanliness freak. Best of all, she can do whatever she wants to and whenever she wants to do it.

She also feels that curious eyes of the society are always watching her and they find hard to accept the status of a single woman. And I also fully agree with her statement, of course if you’re in the movie business and single, the media has a field day. Every actor becomes someone you are attracted to or in a relationship with or even worse, sleeping with. But then she feels there is the educated evolved section of society that supports her and that encourages her spirit and freedom.
