It's a new product from Apple. Rarely does an Apple launch come and go without all of the above by the bucketful. And the build-up and subsequent discussions over this, the Apple TV, have been no different.
The new product weighs just around 1 kg, and measuring just over 2cm high, this is your Apple TV. In a nutshell, the kit delivers everything on your computer's iTunes to your television. Music, movies, photos and all the content you think of; your media is at your control via a standard Apple remote and with on-TV menus. The unit includes a built-in hard disk allowing you to store, as well as stream, content.
It run an HDMI or component cable from the box to your TV, connect an Ethernet cable and the ubiquitous Apple appears on your TV. Your Apple TV is now connected to both your network and your iTunes, and ready to start synchronizing content - impressively fast. Simply choose how much you want to copy from computer to Apple TV box.
Apple claims a vague capacity of'50 hours of movies.
Scrolling through the Apple menus on your TV is easy and enjoyable with no more browsing around your computer to view movies or pictures. While one computer acts as the hub, up to five others can instantly and wirelessly stream content to your Apple TV. For more content you can also stream previews of music and videos to your TV as you would in iTunes.
There's no DivX support so, music and pictures must be in iTunes-friendly formats only or in MPEG-4 format.
Amazingly simple to use and setup. Priced at Rs 16600; smart and slick menus; fast connection; Though what goes against is small hard disk of 40 gb with usable capacity of 33 gb; no content from India yet but when there is more content, it'll be great for iTunes enthusiasts.
My Rating would be 4/5.
