Traditionally, we Indians always want to have long lustrous locks. But even if you want some style, you need not have to cut the long beautiful hair of yours. To get it short, for funky look, length is in. There are a lot of options for long haired ladies who refuse to sacrifice length for style. Long hair is very much in for the year and will stay for quite a while. But before going in for drastic change with long hair, it makes sense to discuss the kind of haircut you want with your stylist. Your stylist must know the hairstyle that would best suit you, keeping in mind the kind of hair, your personality and amount of time you would like to put into styling.

How to make it funk look? If your lifestyle and profession allow it, you could go in for really funky hairstyle and that’s with length. In a really funky hair cut, here each layer has a visibly distinct length, with the crown layers at the perimeter. The visible disconnections give your long hair and edgy, fashionable look.

If you are comfortable with something more tamer, a haircut with invisible disconnections would work for you as well. In this case the layers are long and there are areas that are shorter as well, but it is all blinded into the haircut. While this haircut lacks the edginess of the visible disconnections, but it will sure let you make heads turn.

A slightly more mature woman could go in for longer layers that maintain length and fullness. Experts say this kind of haircut gives the hair that glamorous, bouncy feel while maintaining length and allowing for experimentation with color.

Cutting curly hair short internally but keeping hair at the perimeter or external hairline long is a good option. This makes the hair more manageable and prevents frizziness and flyways. Use the right kind of anti-freeze product and leave in conditioner after each shampoo, styling product is a must for curly hair.

Styling long hair can be very interesting with minimal effort. If you have slight waves and lot of layers cut into the hair, a good option is to scrunch the hair. Use a curl saver mousse and let the hair dry naturally. Don’t run a comb or brush through the hair once it has settled. This is a great look for a casual night out. If you have really long hair, a curling iron or heated rollers work well to give soft curls. Blow-drying is another option. This works well when go for formal occasion.

So now you can afford to experiment with styles and variation.
