Ayurveda is one of the oldest forms of healing and one of the pride India possess as India is supposed to be the place of origin of Ayurveda science which is seeing revival all over the world. Ayurvedic medication is the growing industry.

THE ABC OF AYURVEDA
Ayurveda is a holistic approach that gets to the root cause of the problem by working out your basic constitution, and gives you a sense of complete well-being. Ayurveda works on the basic principle that the balance is the natural order, imbalance is disorder. Health is order, disease is disorder. When one understands the nature and structure of disorder, one can re-establish order. Three ruling forces called doshas influence this balance. Each dosha is linked to an element and a function that it has in the body's harmony. So, vata, composed of air and space, is the energy of movement; pitta, commanded by fire and water, controls metabolism and kapha, ruled by earth and fire controls the body's structure. Everyone has qualities of vata, pitta and kapha, but one is primary. And the combination of all three makes up our prakruti or individual constitution. Knowing your prakruti explains your reactions to foods, people, even climates.

VATA DOSHA
Thoughts and sensations are part of this most imaginative dosha. With the air and space as dominant elements, changeability is one of the principal traits of vata-dominated people, so they are often seen as erratic, emotionally-wrought people.
Physically, a vata person is noticeably shorter or taller than average. Her hair is dark and coarse, she has dull eyes, may have moles or birthmarks and her skin tans easily.

PITTA DOSHA
Fire and water command and this fiery woman has a medium physique, tonnes of stamina and intense gaze. Her complexion tends to be yellowish and she is prone to premature graying. The main function of the pitta dosha is digestion, metabolism and skin luster. Unlike the vata person who needs to organize herself, the pitta person needs to take it easy, accept the fact that projects may get delayed and that leisure time is for relaxation. Strong emotions like anger, jealousy and even hatred are common among these women.

KAPHA DOSHA
Kapha is the anabolic force that gives the body its resistance and also supports the healing process. The kapha person is caring, diplomatic and the perfect fire extinguisher in difficult situations. The sense of security and constancy that radiate from the kapha force restore order to the other two doshas. But on the negative side she can be a limpet, greedy and possessive. The kapha girl is lazy; she loves to sleep and is almost addicted to food, making her overweight. Kapha needs a bit of a push to get the rock rolling, and a gentle nudge every now and again to change course. Incense works miracles for this earthy babe and exercise is indispensable.
