We have all been affected by bad hair days at some point or the other in our lives. One day your hair is fine and the next day you can’t seem to make it better. And it always seems to happen at the worst time like important meetings or important occasions. So here, our experts come up with some good ways to avoid this and they also tell scientific reasons for every hair problem:
• Blow dry: You’ve washed your hair and blow dried it, but it just won’t set the way you want it to.
Scientific cause: Our hair has a natural texture and shape and if you want to change the natural shape then you need to use the right amount of heat, tension or product. Too much heat and tension, and the use of wrong products, will quickly dry out your hair and cause breakage.
How to avoid it? Hair that is well moisturized is stronger and easier to control so always use a conditioner. When drawing, use a low setting n your dryer and dry the hair in sections, then let each section to cool on brush to set before you release. Get a good haircut that works with your hair.
Quick fix: Spray the problem area with water, apply mousse and gently blow dry with a round brush.
• Grease head: Its mid week and you’re super busy at work. Your hair looks and feels greasy, but you don’t have time to wash it.
Scientific cause: Over production of oil at the scalp caused by hormones, diet or over eating can cause your hair and scalp felt greasy.
How to avoid it? If you’re prone to greasy hair, wash and condition your hair every day. If you don’t have the time in the morning, wash it the night before. Remove greasy build up and product residue with a clarifying shampoo and always rinse well when washing your hair.
Quick fix: The slicked back pony tail.
• The big frizz: No matter what you do, your hair still sticks out in all directions.
Scientific reason: Humidity can cause individual hair to expand and change shape, leaving your hair looking frizzy.
How to avoid it? Hydration is one of the reasons. The more moisture your hair contains, the less it is able to absorb from the atmosphere. After you wash your hair, gently squeeze out excess moisture with a towel; never rub as these damages the cuticles.
Quick fix: If you don’t have the time to start again, make it look like it’s supposed to be frizzy.
Static stress: Unmanageable hair especially during winter.
Scientific cause: Dry, cold atmosphere, which causes static.
How to avoid it? Increase the moisturizer content of the hair and use styling products like creams and waxes.
Quick fix: Apply something immediately to re-hydrate the hair, for instance leave in conditioner. Plait to keep under control and away from face. Finish with healthy hold spray.
