Choosing The Right Speakers Rated by 1 users
You have chosen an excellent player that will play your favorite music or your movies. But the speakers you have installed do not match the quality of the player and as a result, you don’t experience the right sound with excellent picture quality. Choosing the right speakers is harder than picking any other part of your system, because they interact strongly with the amplifier and room to give you the desired sound effect. Generally incompatibilities between an amplifier and speakers are rare, but some always sound and work better than others. Do listen to a pair of speakers with your own amp before buying the speakers for yourself. This way you will be sure that things sound right.
RULES FOR BUYING SPEAKERS 1. Choose a model that will function in the space allocated.
2. Small speakers work best in small rooms. Attempt to use a large speaker with an extensive bass reach in a compact space and you will get fat, uncontrolled bass. However, as with any rule there are exceptions, so the only way to really know whether a pair of loudspeakers will work properly in your room is to try them out.
3. Don’t ignore the positioning, too, and don't be afraid to experiment. The manufacturers know their products well, so start using their placement recommendation as a starting point. And then try a different position according to your room. This could yield better results.
4. Trust your own ears. Hi-fi speakers come in such a multitude of sizes, colors, materials and shapes that there is bound to be a pair that will be exactly what you need.
OTHER THINGS TO LOOK FOR
1. HIGH NOTES: The tweeter reproduces all the high-frequency sounds, and it is usually the part of the speaker that gets damaged if you play too loud. Go for the good quality tweeter in your speakers. 2. MIDRANGE AND BASS KICK: The larger driver here, the mid/bass cone, does most of the work, delivering the midrange information. The former in eludes vocals and the latter is the bass and drums. 3. PORTS: Ports can be either front or rear-firing which are used to augment the bass output of the mid/bass drive unit. Bung them to alert the sound. 4. THE MAKING: The stronger and more inert the cabinet is, the better the sound will be. The construction of the speakers spoils all aspects of the sound if it is not designed properly. 5. BIWIRING PART: Some loud speakers are equipped with two pairs of terminals, so you can attach in two nuns of cable between them and your amplifier. This is called biwiring and it improves the sound.
There is a huge variety of speakers available in the market starting from Rs. 12000 to Rs. 10 Lakh. Some of the best are:
