Thailand is one of the hottest tourist destinations of the world. The night life in Bangkok, coral islands in Pattaya and the adventure in Phuket makes Thailand a seeking destination. But there are parts of Thailand which offers so much in terms of tourism and yet they are the unexplored one. The Similan Island is one of them. It is not very far off from Phuket(100 kms) and it is amazing unexplored world.

With clear waters and less of crowd this island offers drift-diving 20 mts under the surface. There is a submarine colorful view under the sea with caves, peaks and arches, all of it overgrown with hundreds of species of coral and algae. There are also tens of thousands of varieties of other reef creatures. If you are lucky enough you might get to see the occasional visits from the magnificent whale shark.

The combination of this island is spectacular, the striking topography compliments rich marine life. The clear waters offer visibility even 30 mtrs below. It is an amazing destination for the divers as Similan Islands National Marine Park is one of the top-10 dive destinations in the world. Similan Islands consists of nine islands which are result of geological intrusions, made from layers of sedimentary rock. The huge boulders that litter the western and southern shores on several of the islands are perhaps the most striking feature of these islands.

The coral-sand beaches in the island are splendidly picturesque and often deserted. It is a great option for honeymooners as it spreads the romantic feel with the beaches being covered with thick forest. The forests have variety of plantations including ironwood and gum trees, while jackfruit, rattan and bamboo are part of the denser undergrowth. Crabs, macaques, squirrels, bats, lizards and a variety of birds are among the residents of the island.

The Similans have almost everything, including coral walls. There are massive rocks, huge sea fans and barrel sponges, caves, swim through and plenty of shallows for snorkeling. Although the waters around the islands average between 30 and 45 meters deep, you find coral gardens in as little as six to seven meters. To the west of the islands, clear sand can be visible. On the east side, however, the rock formations have been largely buried, and you encounter coral-covered sandy slopes, ideal for low-adrenaline, high-interest snorkeling and diving. The Similans also caters to the needs of world-class divers from amateur to the experienced one.
