SMS World Rated by 1 users
Gone are the days when keeping in touch with someone miles apart were a difficult thing to do. The internet has played the major role in bringing people closer despite of the distance factor. The emergence of social networking sites like Orkut and the concept of blogging has added a whole new dimension to the process of keeping in touch. Not all of us have the access to the net all the times. There comes the big significance of short message service. The all time offline SMS. The new rage in the SMS world is the SMS 2.0 which is also known as SMS blogging. It allows users to connect instantly and simultane¬ously to their peers via SMS. And the best part of this service so far is that in most cases, it is almost free. With the concept of new SMS, the users can build their own SMS communities when too much text is not required, and the 140-character limit is more than enough for one’s message.
With this technology, developers such as Reliance and Twitter are trying to capture the market with an aim to reach everyone who owns a mobile phone. The best part of these applications is that they can be used by anyone and they do not need multimedia capabilities at all. This technology helps you to connect to a large number of people, all at the same time, regardless of where they are located. One existing service Gupshup by Webaroo exists in the market where the mobile phone group creator sends an SMS to Gupshup and it gets forwarded to everyone who is a subscriber to his or her group. One can also join any group using a single SMS message, and then automatically receive any messages sent to that group. Webaroo forwards messages to all subscribers at no additional cost to the message sender or group creator.
Twitter is in the same shoes that allows the user to stay connected via SMS, Internet messaging and blogs. It is quite similar to Webaroo in concept but very different in application. Twitter is a free service but the service provider may charge extra for phone alerts. There is also Reliance’s Mblog, a blogging service that enables the user to share images, videos and text on the Internet from their mobiles. All you have to do is to click photos and videos from your mobile and send it, followed with the blog message as an SMS or MMS. And the service is not confined to Reliance users. It is also extended to non-Reliance users. Mblog charges Rs 5 per MMS blog and Rs.3 per SMS
The technology is expected to be extended to enable each and every one in the group to communicate with each other. This technology can be used on the professional front too. People can share files or update all members on an important decision simultaneously with the help of such application.
