Colour plays a vital role in our lives, be it in our wardrobe, on our vehicles or even on the walls of our home. So when you take two hours to decide on the white or red shirt then you should be giving due consideration to the space available before you choose the colour for your walls.
Colours are used differently to create different effects. For instance,Neutral shades like beige, fawn and light gray are widely used for creating balance and harmony. If you are looking for a cool, refreshing appearance, pick something soft and pastel. Contemporary pastels are enhancing the walls of many a bedroom these days. Take your time, look for options available, try different permutations and combinations and then finally make your choice.
The right colour to the right place is very important else the place will look quite odd. There are different sets of shades you can refer to for different rooms.
FOR THE LIVING ROOM
A neutral colour is the colour of the living room. Emulsion gives a good finish. If you have smaller walls, try highlighting them with a bright colour. This will automatically lift the energy in your room. You can also try an interesting wall finish like a sponge effect or even bold vertical or horizontal stripes. Keep children in mind while choosing the paint as some are extremely poisonous paint mixtures that children must not be exposed to.
FOR THE BOYS ROOM
Boys generally associate with strong, bold colours. For a macho, superhero effect, try using your child’s favorite super hero’s outfit as the guiding swatch for the room. Some boys love diving and swimming while others dream about searching for treasure-laden ships.
If your little one likes adventure, colour his walls in shades of blue.
FOR THE GIRLS ROOM
For a girl’s room, pink and green make a punchy colour combination. Angels and fairies are favorites of girls. For angel themes, paint skies and clouds, use soft icy pinks, blues and shades of lavender. Fairy shapes are appealing with transparent wings, sparkling wands and silvery magic dust. One can also experiment with a bold palette - bright, bold orange, sun yellow, lime green and watermelon pink that will add zing to the room.
FOR THE MASTER BEDROOM
The most important room in your house is the master bedroom. It is the room you are going to spend most of your time unwinding in. More and more people are opting for deeper shades like dark red, deep gold, lighter shades of blues and purples. All these colours invoke warmth and feeling of love and passion. If you are the romantic kind, like the French, use a combination of light gold, light maroon and blue for that lovely soothing effect. For a Mediterranean feel, focus on green, light blues, browns and highlight the combination with splashes of red and yellow.
