Have you ever wondered that sometimes when because of any reasons you have to sleep in any other room than yours, why you have uncomfortable sleep? Our room is the safest place in our house where we feel free to fly on the wings of their imagination. The same is the way the child feels. So make sure that you make your child’s room a special place for the apple of your eye. Plan the child’s room keeping following things in mind like age, space, colors and themes, and safety.
Find out how your children want their room. Incorporate in the design their favorite colors, interests such as sports or music, or themes like an underwater room. Involve them in the selection of wall paint, fabric, etc. You could even do up a focus wall together by stenciling or sponge painting it. Make sure that the kid is going to use the room for sleeping, playing, displaying artwork and collectibles, and reading and entertaining. Do plan for task lighting for reading, together with general lighting.
Make the child’s room which providing them with the necessary space and accessories as they grow up. It is important to choose furniture and accessories that are flexible and can be altered to grow with your child.
In crowded cities, we are often faced with the challenge of space. Here are a few ways to create a sense of space:
1. Paint the ceiling white and enhance it with glow stickers.
2. Paint walls in neutral shades of beige or cream. Subtle shades create the illusion of space.
3. Use bright colors as splashes confined to cushions, bedspreads and accessories.
4. Bay windows provide cozy seating areas with storage facilities and form exceptional reading nooks. But make sure you have security grills fitted in.
5. Construct a skylight to further increase the levels of natural light filtering in.
6. One can use rollaway beds that can be lifted, rolled on slides and set against the wall or sofa-cum-beds act as flexible space-saving components allowing for more floor area.
As kids grow older, their need for storage space increases. Make organized storage a priority
including open colorful shelves, decorative wicker baskets, transparent plastic containers and closets with shelves, racks as well as hanging space. Color-code them for visual convenience.
Keep things within easy reach.
SHARING THR ROOM WITH THE SIBLING
It is very difficult to get the siblings share the room. Divide the room into separate, but
imilar zones with common areas. Clearly demarcate areas to ascertain privacy and avoid fights. Freestanding units with shelves and sliding partitions make flexible dividers. Allow the scope for zones to project sibling individuality. Keep the furniture simple, only highlighting it with furnishings or possessions to personalize the space. Provide each sibling with an individual space
ecorated with a favorite color, replete with an art display or marker board.
