By: Payal Jain, In Home & GardenHits - Today: 26, This Week: 0, Month: 0, Total: 0Updated: Wednesday, February 13, 2008 Children believe whatever they see or are told. They believe the demons shown on the TV or the movie. They even get scared of the watchman who might have the longest beard. Children get scared easily, and as parents you make sure that you do everything in your hands to keep them safe. All parents want to give the best to their child. Here we are discussing the things one must look out for while selecting a new home in the newly constructed flats if you have children or are planning to have them in future and for those who are not selecting a new home can induce some elements to make it more child friendly place.
1. Internet Connectivity: The Internet has become education and entertainment tool. Internet connectivity has become such a rage amongst home seekers today.
2. Alarm Features: While seeing the alarm feature take children and elderly people into special consideration. Intricate high-tech security networks allow homeowners to watch over them.
3. Good schools: Access to the best possible school is of primary importance. A housing project may offer every desirable facility but it is seriously lacking if it does not have at least two reputable schools within easy reach. The more progressive townships and projects have schools within the campus.
4. Timely transport: This directly pertains to the problem of getting children to and from school conveniently.
5. Children-oriented facilities: Many property brochure or any reputed builder’s projects focus on ‘Fully Equipped Children's Park/Playground mentioned prominently.’ Other things to look for and enquire about are nursery/crech, babysitting and daycare facilities, a garden for family-oriented activities and the availability of facilities for children.
6. Clubhouse: If the area where you planning to get the new home have a clubhouse which only caters for adult entertainment and relaxation, think again. A clubhouse is and should be a boon to children - therefore look for facilities like table tennis and badminton courts, a library, indoor games, regularly scheduled fur activities, etc
7. Swimming Pool: The subject of children’s safety in and around swimming pools is a vital one. Most townships and upper-crust housing projects feature swimming pools these days. It can also be a source of danger to your kids if the project does not offer the services of a lifeguard or pool attendant. The poolside should also be equipped with non-slip tiles.
8. Interiors: Make sure that internal specifications are conducive to children’s safety is important. Checklist of features to look for 1. Windows with grills. 2. Safe electrical outlets. 3. Anti-skid bathroom tiles 4. Drinking water purification system.
9. Nearby hospital: Accidents can happen anytime. Make sure that a hospital with basic infrastructure is nearby.
10. Neighborhood: One should definitely keep one’s children’s social needs in mind while selecting a residence. If nothing else, a reputable location and project will offer a social environment suitable to our children (good neighbors) as well as a crime-free zone.
