Being an engineer is no longer a dream, but a need which could be satisfied if you have money in your pocket. The private engineering colleges which popped up like popcorns all over often attract lot of student crowd and their qualification is often judged by not their caliber but the amount they can spend on the college.

No doubt that today there are more opportunities, more job prospects but this demand too has been created by the private sector itself. The government did not do much of contribution in meeting this demand but gave licenses to engineering and technical colleges. This gave a chance for college management or owners to take full advantage of the degree business which is more than 60 in the country with more than one lakh students in them. The government did not had any better option but to let private people start this colleges as it failed in doing so itself. This gives a chance for the private people to take heavy fees from the students and make their own rules and regulations and parents and students have no option but to follow the blind business.

All the private college or universities are given certification or license by the government and government officials too have share in it. These colleges charge every now and then in the name of funds, fine etc. Most of the time, the government close its eyes whenever such thing happen around. The seat through management quotas comes at a very high price which could be bought even if you don’t clear the entrance test. There are no fixed parameters for the admission procedure. Even if one does not clear the counseling stage, one gets admission. Even if one has not appeared in the entrance test, just being class 12th pass makes you eligible for the seat if you are ready to pay the price of the seat. Though there is no importance of these entrance tests, but the government doesn’t want to lose the revenue generated by it.

All these colleges have to get the green flag from the AICTI and the scenario does reflect on the corruption this department as the colleges have to pay heavy price to get license even if they do not fulfill all requirements like the teacher qualifications etc. For instance in Madhya Pradesh there are many colleges which are not as per the norms of AICTI but still they are running.

Land, hostel, college bus etc which are made mostly out of the fees are private properties of the managers or owners.  All this and more goes by the pocket of the student seeking admission. The only difference is that it is not mentioned in the receipt. All this is served to the students with loads of marketing of the college and the subjects offered. These colleges have made their own rules and there is nothing parents or students doing about it as the golden future lies in the hands of the private technical colleges.
