Some of the uncommon headaches which are quite harmful for the body are:

1. MENINGITIS which is the inflammation of the thin membrane that covers brain and spinal cord. The symptoms of this kind of headache are intense and constant pain felt all over to head which rotates to the neck and make it stiff and makes bending to rest chin on neck difficult, and is often accompanied by high fever and vomiting. Such kind of headache needs the patient to be hospitalized as treatment is possible hospitalization.

2. SUBDURAL HAEMOTOMA is the condition where accumulation of blood after head injury triggers the headaches. It ranges from mild to severe, intermittent to constant pain, felt in one spot or over whole head and travels down to neck drilling a small hole in the skull. Such headache needs immediate attention of the doctor as it can even make the person ability to think weak.

3. SUBARACHNOID HAEMORRHAGE is sudden bleeding into the space of tissue covering brain because of head injury or pressure. It is more common in women. The clues of these conditions can be severe, constant, widespread pain and is sometimes felt in and around one eye and the eyelid drops. It is also described as the worst headache ever. Treat with Pain killers but aspirin should be avoided which thins blood further. Surgery to isolate, block or support walls of artery.

4. TEMPORAL ARTHRITIS is the condition where inflammation of large arteries on the side of the scalp is the cause of the headaches and is generally occurs at the old age. It is more prevailing on one side of the head at the temple. The arteries in the temple may be enlarged and disturbances or loss of vision scalp feels painful when brushing hair. Jaw may hurt when eating or talking. Treat with Steroid, Prednisone to stop inflammation and prevent blindness.

5. Other disorders that affect the brain can be cancer; fungal infection, abnormal collection of inflammatory cells, TB and can shoot up Mild or severe, dull or sharp pain which may be felt all over the head accompanied by moderate fever. Chances are that you may have history of the specific disorder. Treat with surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, for brain cancer.

One of the very common reason for a person who have partied hard last night and who gets up with a heavy head knowing that his headache id is the extra booze which he had last night can get some relief by popping up two aspirins with half a liter of water when you wake up. Follow with a bland breakfast of say, poached eggs, toast, and dry cereal. Coffee or tea will perk you up. Drink tomato juice, fruit juice with honey, water to flush away the alcohol in blood stream and provide the fluids that your body desperately needs. Don’t drink alcohol on the hangover day as more alcohol will only make you feel worse and tired.
