The stress in the life of people has increased since last decade. Especially in metropolitan cities, where catching up with the pace of life can be very tiring and at times very depressing. Here are few tips to distress you and stay calm. So don’t wait much and go ahead and unwind yourself.
1. Buy yourself a massage: A good massage can accomplish the relaxed effect in an hour or less, make you let go of whatever’s in your neck, feel refreshed and more energetic. It relaxes the muscles and releases tension off the body. Drop in at a salon and buy yourself a message. Even a clean-up or a head massage can open knots in your neck. Enjoy the powerful healing effect.
2. Travel: Travel allows you to view life back home from a new perspective by adding a novel element to your life. Anything that requires you to pay attention slows you down works as a stress buster.
3. Indulge yourself in favorite habits.
4. Try any of these like pray, meditate, contemplate, sit quietly by yourself or with a group in a house of worship.
5. Mind-body workout, such as yoga work wonders in beating stress.
6. Repeat any positive or meaningful word or phrase for a period of several minutes and you will feel the positive effect on you.
7. Listen to classical music even if you’re not used to the experience. You will be amazed by its calm attributes.
8. Associate with nature, View a work of art, such as a painting or sculpture.
9. Breathe regularly consciously and concentrate on your breadth.
10. Walk, jog, bicycle, or perform any other repetitive exercise such as hitting tennis balls against a board over a period of at least 15 minutes.
11. Sit or float in a still swimming pool or other water body.
12. Eat at a quiet restaurant, either alone or with one other person with whom you feel entirely comfortable.
13. Help someone.
14. Get in touch with your five senses for a few minutes every day.
15. Obsessing on stressful thoughts will increase your epinephrine. On the other hand, if you focus on current sensations, it decreases the epinephrine.
16. Switch: Switching activities not only recruits different muscles, but it also absorbs your mind in something new. If your daily walk is as much a time to problem-solve as it is to get fit, trying a workout that requires all your concentration like hip-hop dance class.
17. Live the day and each moment of it: Instead of saving up for a big vacation, learn to carve out shorter time spans more frequently. If you take four-day weekends throughout the year, you may find yourself feeling refreshed and energized more often than not. Day to day, even a moment of me-time makes a different life altogether. Live each moment to the fullest because be it gold or gash it is not coming back ever again. So don’t regret later and live now.
