Alternative therapies are not meant to take place of good Gynecologist or Obstetrician guiding you through your pregnancy, but they work side by side with your regular checkups and treatment to further benefit you during pregnancy.  A baby is affected by what the mother eats and drinks and is also affected by the mother’s feelings and the atmosphere around her. This is why it is so important to remain calm and happy during your pregnancy in order to have a calm and happy baby. Besides the regular checkups and treatment prescribed by the gynecologists alternative treatments can spiritually and naturally help you during these special nine months of your life along with your regular check up:

YOGA
Yoga is the most fitting exercise in pregnancy because it is both a firm yet gentle way to exercise, stay toned and strong for an easier birth. Prenatal Yoga programmes are specially designed to strengthen the body and cairn the spirit. Yoga helps relieve it by building body strength and helping to focus on particular areas of the body which help in easier labor and delivery. Prenatal Yoga lays a great emphasis on breathing exercises and visualizations to get through contractions and to stimulate deep relaxation which helps to calm both mother and baby. Prenatal Yoga instructors are experts in the various houses of Yoga and should have a plethora of experience in working with pregnant women so make sure you check out the instructor you choose and ensure that they know what they are doing.

MASSAGE
Massage during Pregnancy reduces stress to ensure a calmer mother and baby, stimulates relaxation and improves blood and lymphatic circulation. In some traditions, it is customary that a new mother receive a daily postpartum massage to help her body get back into shape and rejuvenate after the long, exhaustive process of labor and delivery. Many pregnancy ailments such as constipation, high blood pressure, water retention stress and anxiety can be relieved though the right type of treatments which are delivered by trained practitioners.

REIKI
Reiki is the practice of sending universal energies for healing purposes. The practitioner uses a combination of meditating on symbols, crystal grids and hand positions to connect and concentrate the energies to the person they are giving it to. There are seven different chakras that are usually focused on and each chakra corresponds to particular body parts which can then be focused on. This energy flows through the body’s channels, clearing blockages, helping to move around messages and signals, and giving the body an overall feeling of relaxation. Reiki is extremely beneficial in Pregnancy as it is safe and can be used during all stages of pregnancy from conception to childbirth. Reiki can be used to relieve any stress or illness that you may be feeling and to stimulate deep relaxation and connection between mother and baby. Reiki also helps during labor, helping to keep the mother calm and open to contractions, working with them instead of against them.
