Garden lovers will do anything to make their garden look different. They will use ideas which are original, inspired, artistic, and imaginative and apply works as beautiful accent pieces without really trying too hard. One who knows how to make garden look well knows well how to use the stone. Using different kinds of stone is bringing in the poetry element in the garden of any size. The marble sculptures are so splendid; they make you stop for a while in the garden for sure for that rendezvous with the nature.

Many decorators have also seen the potential in this regard. Started in 1994, brother duo Akhil and Alok Chandra Jain started Karara Mujassme. They are also technical engineers taking care of the art. Thanks to the growing demand for larger homes with even larger outdoor spaces, the brothers realized the potential for statues and other decorative pieces for the garden. They were always passionate about landscaping and realized the importance of artifacts and statuary in landscaping.  Interestingly, the name Karara Mujassme is a play on two different languages. Karara, although speak differently is a place in Italy (Carrara) where you can buy the best marbles and Mujassme is an Urdu word meaning statue.

MARBLE USAGE
Marble is predominantly considered soft and easy to work with. To create a marble sculpture, an image is selected which could be an inspiration from an older piece of art or then it could be the handiwork of any artist in the form of a drawing or painting. Then architects and designers, make images are customized as per individual requirements. The final image is then modeled to a clay mold by the modelers. For creating multiple pieces, they are caste in fiber molds and then carved. One can create number of models from these as they last longer. For creating a single piece, compass cutting of the stone is done to get the exact details as per the model in the hand-carved statue from a monolith block of stone.

The marble collection includes statues, stone fire places, gazebos, fountains, animal forms, abstract forms, doorways, garden planters, busts, pedestals, etc. One can also use few cast iron garden accessories like benches, bird baths, candle stands, planters, animal corms, statues, gates, grills, gazebos, lamp posts, stairs, table and chair sets and other decorative pieces.

The current demand veers toward the abstract; people like Akhil are marketing their entire range across the country and are even exploring export opportunities.

THE CARE
Marble sculptures are not high on maintenance as they are natural stone which is everlasting. Regular cleaning and polishing will help retain their luster. Marble sculptures placed indoors need to be dusted with a soft cloth. Dusting periodically with a dry, soft cloth or a brush reduces build-up. With time and depending upon their placement, you might witness yellowish or brownish stains on the marble sculptures. Although marble is more weather resistant than sand or clay, when displayed outdoors for long, they absorb minerals from rain, soil or extreme weather conditions and at times result in staining. It would be better to consult a professional for any such stain. Sculptures placed on plastic or granite or a stand are less prone to get stained. Avoid placing the sculpture directly on the ground, where it can absorb moisture and staining minerals from the outdoor plants or soil.
