Long time ago, a woman staying with her children alone without her husband was a big issue. She was restricted to stay reserved and was not supposed to live her life joyfully. Women without husbands had to do things which otherwise her husband would have been doing to support her family and in the process she was looked down upon by the society. But with changing times single mothers are much viably accepted as never before. There are legal procedures to help her. Job opportunities are there for women. A woman can live happily even without a man in her life. But still in some segments such women are not respected as much as the married women are. Let us review why there is such outlook for single mothers.

WHY SINGLE MOTHER?
In some women lives, there arise certain situations where she has to opt to live without her man and take care of her children. Some do it by choice like adopting a child being still unmarried and some has to as destiny has decided for them by means of: loosing her spouse to death, or divorce circumstances.

SOCIAL PERSPECTIVE
Society does not look at women who lives without a man with due respect. Though it has changed with times but still the hypocrisy about the subject prevails. Other women generally stay distant from the single mothers. And if the single mother is young, other women become even more cautious and they won’t encourage their husbands or relatives to interact much with them. Society does talk about helping single mothers in all ways but when it actually comes to help, the story is quite different.

MEN & SINGLE MOTHERS
All women want someone in their lives. Just because they are not living with their husbands any more, it does not mean that they don’t feel the need of a man in their lives for emotional support or physical desires. She is heart broken by her earlier experience and she desire men who understand her emotionally and hold her hand. And that is one of the major reasons that she will take care of herself physically well than other married women and no wonder men are more attracted to her.

MARRIAGE AVOIDANCE
Single mothers can remarry but most of them avoid marriage as their prime fear is that their children might be mistreated or ignored with the entry of a step father. A man would prefer his own child after marriage which the earlier child might not tolerate.

Today’s single mothers don’t bother much about the society. She thinks of her and her children’s needs. And sometimes the need becomes too strong that she crossed certain limits. For a society to look with dignity to single mothers, it is very important for single mothers to possess a clean image as it will also help the child. Do think of remarrying as a father’s role is equally important as that of a mother.
