The desire to lose weight fast through the use of over-the-counter diet pills is often hard to resist. These days there are a number of diet pills that are easily available in the market. Few of these popular names include Didrex, Adipex, Acomplia, Phendimetrazine, Phentermine, and Meridia. Lots and lots of people are seen using these pills. But the question still remains if these weight loss pills are safe and effective? Or are they simply a way to lighten your wallet.

It is very important for all of us to understand that most of the diet pills have been proved ineffective and even dangerous. They are seen to bring serious side-effects that may bring life-time complications. It is only a few pills that have proven to be effective and have been approved by the FDA.

We must accept the fact that there is no magic for losing weight. The only way to lose weight and maintain it for a life time is through a strict lifestyle. We need to eat healthier, low-calorie foods, check for portions that we are eating, and engage ourselves in regular physical activity. Be it walking, jogging, or swimming regular exercise is a must as it brings loss of extra fat and calories. There is certainly no magic pill but diet and exercise together that can bring the desired weight loss.

It is also important to remember that even when we are taking a weight-loss pill, we still have to eat fewer calories than our body uses in order to lose weight. Weight loss pills may help us lose weight initially, but to continue taking them for weight loss is neither practical nor safe.

Excess weight or a condition that's exacerbated by extra pounds must be discussed with a doctor. We need to eat a healthy diet based on a variety of foods and burn calories through physical activity. It has been proved that there truly are no easy solutions to losing weight. In fact, over-the-counter weight-loss pills could cause more harm than good.
